SCHOLARSHIP FINALIST AMANDA POWLEY

AMANDA POWLEY

Volleyball

4x Far West League All-Conference Selection

3x North Bend HS MVP

Amanda was already and accomplished high school athlete when she first came to Northwest in the fall of 2017. Aspiring for a future career in nursing, and a desire to stay close to her family on the south coast, the universities where she could pursue both a collegiate athletic career and her dream profession were few.

Entering her senior season without any offers, Amanda came to Northwest and laid out a very clear plan. "I'm going to go to Oregon Tech. I'm a good enough player, but not a good enough athlete. I need to get better, I'll do whatever it takes".

It took a lot. Hours of drills and workouts, (improving her vertical jump nearly seven inches over a 4 month period). It was with that singular focus, and hours of work at Northwest that she made the jump from an athlete interested in playing at the next level, to a core member of the 2018 Oregon Tech Volleyball recruiting class and a scholarship athlete. Looking back on her experience, Ms. Powley would go on to say "Every practice, tournament, game, workout session, and camp paid off. I did it, I'm going to be a collegiate athlete."

In addition to her hard work and dedication to improving in the facility, Amanda also works full-time, gives volleyball lessons to youth athletes, and is an exemplary student with a 3.85 GPA
