NORTHWEST TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF CHAMPIONS:

With several different divisions in the Oregon Sports Athletic Association, we also end up with several "State Champions". Though this is great for giving a number of smaller programs the opportunity to have a broad range of skills compete, it diminishes the title of State Champion. The Northwest Tournament of Champions aims to crown a true State Champion by offering competitive post-season play for athletes that finished at the top of their respective divisions, as well as several other outstanding players from across the state of Oregon. Athletes are guaranteed 2 games and entry to the Tennis Skills Challenge

TENNIS SKILLS CHALLENGE:

Upon Completion of the first round of play, each player will have the opportunity to compete in the Northwest Tennis Skills Challenge. The Tennis Skills Challenge allows athletes to showcase their abilities, with three different drills.

FASTEST SERVE:

The Fastest Serve Challenge is an opportunity for athletes to BRING THE HEAT! Each participant will be given the chance to complete 6 serves. Each serve will be measured with a pro grade Stalker Radar gun (the same tools used at the US OPEN and Wimbledon). The fastest, legal  Men's and Women's serves will win a Northwest Skills achievement plaque.

BASELINE AGILITY:

Baseline Agility (commonly known throughout sports as a 5-10-5) starts each athlete on the center mark of the baseline. Using a randomized reaction light, athletes will be accelerate to the left doubles sideline, reverse direction to the right doubles sideline, and then finish at the center mark. Baseline Agility is measured by our SpeedLight laser timing devices (the same tools used at the NFL Combine). Each participant will have 3 opportunities to complete this drill with the fastest Men's and Women's times receiving a Northwest Skills achievement plaque.

GROUNDSTROKE & VOLLEY ACCURACY

Groundstroke & Volley Accuracy is a combination of speed, agility, and tennis skill. Athletes will receive a number of machine delivered balls at various spots throughout the court with the goal of returning them to specific targets within the court. The highest accuracy percentages for both Men's and Women's divisions will be awarded a Northwest Skills achievement plaque.
