At Northwest Fitness we measure our athletes through a standardized athletic performance test. We perform these tests several times throughout the year, giving each of our athletes the opportunity to see hard numbers and measured performance improvement.

VO2 MAX TESTING
VO2 max is a numerical measurement of your body’s ability to consume oxygen. It’s not something intrinsic; it’s an external parameter that is affected by things like how many red blood cells you have, how adapted your muscles are to distance running, and how much blood your heart can pump.
RESTING METABOLIC RATE TESTING
Metabolic Rate, or metabolism, is the rate at which the body expends energy. This is also referred to as the "caloric burn rate". The Northwest Fitness triathlon training team is a fun way for beginner to intermediate level triathletes to train in a fun, unintimidating atmosphere. We provide event specific strength training incorporating strength training and plyometrics along with more orthodox cycling and running road work to increase the triathlete’s endurance and reducing the risk of injury.
